Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karataş had an official visit to Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karataş, who is an Advisor to the President of the Presidency of the Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey “Diyanet” Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş had an official visit to Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv. The visit took place on October 12 (Saturday), 2019 and became a part of the official visit to Bulgaria of the high-ranking Islamic theologian at the invitation of Grand Mufti’s Office in our country. Prof. Karataş was accompanied by the Social Affairs Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Mehmet Genç, the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Hüseyin Ergani and Dr. Mustafa Dzhanla – Deputy Rector of the Higher Islamic Institute in Sofia.

The visiting delegation was welcomed by the host and Regional Mufti of Plovdiv Taner Veli, with whom they visited the regional mufti’s office and held an official meeting. Veli informed the guests about the activities of the mufti’s office in Plovdiv, as well as with the ongoing projects on which they are working. After the end of the meeting Prof. Mustafa Karataş and the accompanying him delegation had the opportunity to see the grand mosque “Murat Hyudavendigyar” at the center of Plovdiv, known also as “Dzhumaya mosque”, and to learn more about the history of the Muslim temple.

After their visit to Plovdiv the delegation continued to Momchilgrad, and then to Shumen, where religious programs were held with the participation of Prof. Karataş.
