February 25 is the National Day of the State of Kuwait. That is why on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the establishment of the state of Kuwait and the 29th anniversary of its liberation, the Embassy of Kuwait in Bulgaria held an official celebration.
At the invitation of the Ambassador of Kuwait His Excellency Dr. Yaqoub Yousef Al-Ateeqi among the hundreds official guests of the reception were also the Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, accompanied by the Regional Mufti of Sofia Mustafa Izbishtali.
The celebration which took place few days ago in Sofia, was attended by more than 1000 representatives of the diplomatic corps, the business, intellectuals, cultural figures and friends of the State of Kuwait. The reception was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bulgaria Her Excellency Aylin Sekizkök and by Her Excellency Nargiz Gurbanova – Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to our country.
On behalf of the host, all guests of the official reception received as a gift the book of Dr. Yaqoub Yousef Al-Ateeqi “The Fate of the Kurdish People in the 20th Century”, which in the words of Prof. Tsvetan Teofanov, offers “in a synthesized form a complex, pragmatic and detailed picture of the political and social dimensions of the dramatic Kurdish history in the modern era”.
Kuwait officially won its independence in 1961. In the past its lands were ruled by Babylon, Assyria, the Arab Caliphate, the Ottoman Empire, and the British Empire.
