Grand Mufti participated in a working meeting with imams and members of Muslim boards of trustees in Blagoevgrad region

Imams and chairmen of Muslim boards of trustees from Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad participated in a working meeting held in the village of Ognyanovo on November 26 (Tuesday) this year. The meeting was organized by the local mufti’s office, and official guest was the Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi.

One of the most actively discussed during the meeting topics was the role of the imam and the Muslim board of trustees in the dynamically changing modern world. On this topic the spiritual leader of the Muslims in our country Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi gave some guidelines for how the imams and the Muslim boards of trustees can handle the challenges of the globalizing world.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the running of the ongoing campaign “Orphans’ Week” as well as the organization of weekly religious lectures in the mosques on the territory of Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad during the current winter season. The host of the meeting Aydan Mohamed and the Deputy Mufti Ali Hodzha took an active part in the discussions. The participants also addressed the topic about marking at a local level the 30 anniversary since the reclaim of the Turkish-Muslim names in Bulgaria.

“Our idea is to mark in several settlements in the region this 30th anniversary of the reclaim of the names. This event is marked every year on December 29 as ais known as Kurtulush Bayram. But this year we have planned to mark the anniversary in a larger scale, with the participation of the elderly people from the region who participated in the events, and we will focus on how they had met the reclaim of their Turkish-Muslim names, and what is more important – how they had won this” – the Regional Mufti of Blagoevgrad Aydan Mohamed commented for Grandmufti.bg on the marking of the upcoming anniversary.
