Students from the religious schools represent Bulgaria at a Balkan competition in Qur’an recitation in Kosovo

“Alauddin” Madrasa in Pristina, Kosovo 

Six students in total from Religious School – Momchilgrad and Religious School “Nyuvvab” in Shumen will represent our country at an international competition in Qur’an recitation in Kosovo. It takes place under the auspices of the Grand Mufti of Kosovo and is organized by the Religious School “Alauddin” based in Pristina. The competition will be held within the period November 1 – 3, 2019 in Pristina and will bring together at one place students from Muslim secondary school from eight countries in total from the Balkans.

Among the participant from Bulgaria are two girls and two boys from the religious school in Momchilgrad and another two boys from the religious school in Shumen. The group is accompanied by two teachers.

The students from the religious schools in Shumen and Momchilgrad will compete in the categories for “Recitation of juz “Amma” by heart”, “Recitation of three ajza from the Holy Qur’an by heart” and “Artistic recitation of the Qur’an.”

In connection with the encouragement of the students to memorize the Qur’an, from the beginning of this school year Grand Mufti’s Office and the management of Religious School – Momchilgrad began a training course for memorization of the Holy Qur’an. It is not included in the educational program and takes place in the afternoon. The participants in the course are divided into three groups depending on their level. Some students from the school in Momchilgrad have already began to memorize the texts from the Holy Qur’an. Another began with a crash course in practical reading of the Qur’an and after refining the reading they will continue with the memorization. The new course in Qur’an memorization in Religious School – Momchilgrad takes place with the active participation of the educators who are working with the students every afternoon.
