Two wells for drinking water were constructed in Nepal after a charity campaign of Regional Mufti’s Office – Haskovo
During the recent month Regional Mufti’s Office – Haskovo held a charity campaign to help the local population in Nepal, the aim of which was to construct two new wells in order to provide access to clean drinking water for the people there. The initiative was launched after Eid al-Adha this year and continued about two weeks. The raised amount was 3 200 BGN.
“We decided to allocate the funds from the charity initiative for the construction of two wells for clean drinking water exactly in Nepal, because after the investigation which we made, we found out that the local population in Nepal desperate needs safe drinking water – much more that the people from other poor regions in the world need.” – said for Granmufti.bg the Secretary of Regional Mufti’s Office – Haskovo Suray Mustafa.
He also shared that the two wells are constructed in the town of Siraha and in the village of Baryar Patti with the assistance of another organization.
Nepal is a country in South Asia and is officially one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. According to official statistics more than half of the population of Nepal lives below the poverty line. Factor for this are the unfavorable geographic and natural features of the region, the political problems and riots at a local level, as well as the great disaster from 2015 when an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 on the Richter scale shook the country and led to the death of thousands of people.
