The new academic year 2019/2020 was officially opened in the Higher Islamic Institute (HII) on September 16 (Monday), 2019. A total of 26 first-year students entered the higher educational institution this year – 8 of them in full-time and 18 – part-time training.
The opening ceremony of the new academic year in HII began with reading of an excerpt from the Qur’an-i Kerim by one of the first-year students. Then the Grand Mufti and Rector of HII Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi welcomed all students and guests. Greeting addresses were also delivered by official guests, among whom were the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun Birali, and also representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria.
One of the first activities during the new academic year for the students from the HII was to participate in the commemorative mawlid for the late Assoc. Prof. Ibrahim Yalamov. It took place on September 17 (Tuesday) from 17:30 o’clock at the premises of the Institute in the quarter of Vrazhdebna, Sofia. The program in the memory of Assoc. Prof. Yalamov included reading of mawlid and Qur’an-i Kerim. The participants made dua (supplication) to Allah to bestow mercy on him and to honor him with a higher place in the Gardens of the Paradise. In the commemorative meeting participated also students and lecturers from the Institute, as well as representatives of the Muslim Denomination.
The highly-esteemed Assoc. Prof. Yalamov left us forever on this world on July 19, 2019, at the age of 85. He was a prominant representative of the Turkish intelligentsia in Bulgaria as well as a longtime lecturer and a former HII rector.
