Groundbreaking for the mosque in the town of Slavyanovo

The construction project of the new prayer house – mosque in the town of Slavyanovo (Municipality of Pleven) officially started with the groundbreaking on September 11 (Wednesday) 2019.

The official ceremony was attended by the Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun Birali, who is exactly from the town of Slavyanovo, as well as the main initiator and organizer of the event Murad Boshnak – Regional Mufti of the town of Pleven. The ceremony was attended by local politicians, public figures and residents from Pleven District and all guests numbered nearly 60 people.

“There was a mosque in Slavyanovo 25 – 30 years ago when the Muslim temple was destroyed because the construction did not meet certain requirements. Now we are beginning the project for the construction of the new mosque in Slavyanovo and we hope that it will be completed within the next two years. The mosque will have a total floor area of 100 m² and a capacity of 100 people.” – said for Grandmufti.bg the Regional Mufti of Pleven Murad Boshnak. He said that the construction project for the new mosque will be funded by the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria but private donors will also be sought to support the funding of this initiative.
