Representatives of Grand Mufti’s office attended an iftar-dinner organized by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On May 28, 2019 the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Bulgaria Ekaterina Zaharieva hosted an official iftar-dinner on the occasion of the sacred for the Muslims month of Ramadan. It took place at “Boyana” residence in the capital. The iftar was attended by representatives of the diplomatic missions of Muslim and Arab countries in Bulgaria, representatives of the Muslim denomination and of other religious communities in the country.

Grand Mufti’s Office of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria was presented at the official event by the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun Birali and by the Secretary General of the Muslim Denomination Dzhelal Faik.

“Fate has ordered the Bulgarian people to live in an immediate neighborhood to the people from the Islamic and Arabic world. Both history and traditions connect us. As a bridge between Europe and Asia, Bulgaria is at the crossroads of cultures, similarities and differences. This fact presupposes the development and the cooperation based on mutual respect.” – said Minister Zaharieva in her greeting address to the guests on Tuesday evening.

She highlighted that the thing which preserved the peace in Bulgaria as a homeland of many Muslims is exactly the model of tolerance.
