OIC:Bulgaria should respect the rights of the Turkish Muslim community and to return the waqf property

 

The 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) took place on March 1 and 2, this year in Abu Dhabi, The United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Within session the held at the beginning of this month the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC adopted several resolutions, related to the Muslim communities and the Muslim minorities in the countries that are not members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The third of the all five adopted resolutions is dedicated to Bulgaria and the Muslim community living in the country. In it the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC “Once again emphasizes the need to respect human rights of the Turkish Muslim community and to return the Muslim waqf property confiscated in Bulgaria during previous periods and calls upon the Muslims in Bulgaria to unite their efforts in strengthening the position of Grand Mufti’s Office to support the interests of the Muslims.”

The official document also calls for changes concerning the policy regarding the Muslim communities and minorities to the governments of Angola, the Central African Republic and Sri Lanka. The resolution reflect current problems with the Muslim minorities on the territories of the Southern Philippines, Myanmar, Eastern Thrace and Dodecanese (Greek islands near the Turkish shores), as well as the Muslim Tatars of Crimea.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is an international organization of the Islamic countries in the world. It has 57 members which makes it the largest Muslim organization in the world.
