The number of the supported by the Muslim Denomination orphans has increased to 285 children since the beginning of 2019

On February 14 (Thursday), 2019 a regular working meeting of the Committee on Social Activities at the Supreme Muslim Council (SMC) chaired by the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Birali, took place.

The meeting was attended by the members Aydan Mohamed, Akif Akifov, Mustafa Izbishtali and Nedzhmi Dabov, who are regional mufti’s respectively of Blagoevgrad, Sliven, Sofia and Smolyan, and Nazmie Kulova – expert at the Department on Education.

The agenda of the held meeting included an analysis of the results of the “Orphans’ Week” campaign during the last year, 2018, as well as planning of the social activities during the present year, 2019. The participantsexamined the applications for supporting orphans for 2019 – 27 in total, as well as the submitted to the Committee applications for granting ad hoc aid.

“Based on the discussions the Committee on Social Activities approved 26 of the orphaned children, who had applied for monthly support. Thus since the beginning of 2019 the number of the supported children has increased from 25 to 285. The Committee also decided the monthly support for each of them to be increased from 50 BGN to 60 BGN.” – shared for Grandmufti.bg the expert from the Social Department Dzhafer Isov.

He also added that within the held meeting there were also approved four applications for ad hoc aid – two of them from Smolyan region, one from Sofia District and one from Balgoevgrad District. For the four cases the Committee on Social Activities granted the total amount of 1740.00 BGN.
