A regional contest in Basic knowledge in Islam took place in Razgrad
On 25th of August 2018, the XIV Regional Contest in Basic Knowledge in Islam was held at “Ahmed Bey” Mosque in Razgrad. For another year in a row it was organized by the Regional Mufti's Office - Razgrad.
Impatient children from the entire Razgrad District, who had been expecting this day all summer long, began to arrive in the city early in the morning to compare the knowledge about religion, gained during the summer Qur’an courses in the summer vacantion. This year's summer Qur’an courses in the region were organized in a total of 40 settlements and 352 children participated in it.
In the competition this year children from 11 Qur’an courses took part and 20 children competed individually.
The competition had three rounds. The first round was theoretical and included questions related to making the prayer, and doing wudu and others. The second round included reading the short surahs from the Qur'an by heart and artistic reading of the Qur’an. In the third round, the children made a test which was also a speed test.
The competition was opened by reading passages from the Holy Qur’an by Ibrahim Topuz - guest-imam from the Republic of Turkey. At the beginning of the competition, the regional mufti of Razgrad Mehmed Alya welcomed all present teachers, guests and children, wished success to the participants and thanked their lecturers for their efforts and their responsible role in educating the growing Muslims. The jury consisted of Hamdi Nesir as a chairman – an imam at the village of Mortogonovo and Elman Ehlimanov – an imam at the central mosque in the village of Dyankovo, as well as Shakir Ahmedchikov – an imam at the city of Razgrad – the last two as members.
The presenter of the competition was Sunay Zülkyar – an imam in Zavet village. All the children presented themselves at high level. There were special awards for the teams of the Qur’an courses who participated for the first time in such a competition. As always, the best-prepared participant had to be announced. And Nalan Havenel from the Qur’an Course of Razgrad was placed first with a total of 156 points, with teacher Shakir Ahmedchikov. Melek Mustafova from the Qur’an Course of Kichenitsa village was placed second with 147 points, with teacher Shakir Ahmedchikov again, and the third place was for Aykut Hayriev from the Qur’an Course in the village of Dyankovo with teacher Elman Suleymanov.
The award fund included various awards. Sport competitions were also held within the program. Finally, the program was closed with a du’a and a lunch for all the guests.
