Hundreds of people in Kardzhali honored a hair from the beard of the Prophet (pbuh)
On June 10, 2018 after the noon prayer the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed together with the imams of the mosque in Kardzhali showed a sacred hair from the beard of the Prophet (pbuh) – “Sakal-a Sherif”.
The program of the event included a lecture of the Regional Mufti on the importance of Laylat al-Qadr, a religious talk on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), as well as reading of Mawlid and Mukabele.
Hundreds of Muslims participated in the event and honored the hair form the beard of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The relic is kept in the central mosque of the town. The Muslims can see it only once a year – during the worshipping before the great Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr. This happens exactly during Laylat al-Qadr. It is one of the sacred nights in the Islamic religion. During Laylat al-Qadr the Prophet (pbuh) received as enlightenment the first chapters of the Qur’an. Muslims believe that in this night the Almighty accepts all of their supplications, because the heaven is open and the angels come down to the first heaven.
The relic is called “Sakal-I sheriff”, which literally translated means ‘Sacred beard” of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It is kept under the minaret of the mosque in Kardzhali for at least 130 years.
