Charity iftar dinners under the shadow of Tombul mosque

As every year, so in this one during the Sacred Month of Ramadan Regional Mufti’s Office – Shumen organizes charity iftar dinners in the yard of “Sherif Halil Pasha” mosque or the more known as “Tombul mosque”. These dinners are organized by the team of Regional Mufti’s Office and by the Muslim Board of Trustees of the city of Shumen.

Every evening about 200 people break their fasting at these iftars with a smile and happiness on their faces. Because not every one of the participants has the relevant financial means for one full iftar, but the reason to participate in the iftar dinners and to be happy is not only this. The secret which brings together Muslims and other people from different communities at the iftar is in who makes them, why and with what purpose.

The iftars which are organized every evening in the spiritually filled yard of Tombul mosque are provided by people of goodwill who want to help their Muslim brothers and to share with them what they have been given form Allah. This is an expression of the words of our Prophet (pbuh) who mention in one of the narrations, that: “Giving hand is better than receiving hand”.

Exactly in this wisdom is hidden the secret of iftar dinners. That is why let us also give a helping hand to the people near us. Especially in the time when we look at our favorite people and celebrities on the TV how they are dressed, what do they do, what do they eat, when do they come back home, etc. Unfortunately at the same time we have no idea how the person beside us lives, whether in work or in in life as a whole.

We do not care if people around us have any problems, if they go to sleep hungry or need anything. It is a pity for every person, but most of all for us, the Muslims, because our religion requires from us to be empathetic to the problems of the people.

Let us in the spirit of the iftar dinner this Sacred Ramadan, which is already at its end, to make us united, to bring us closer, to forget the quarrels, as well as the woes. That is why let we first give a hand, because exactly we are the ones who can make someone or a whole family happy.

I know and I believe that together we can do more and may Allah, the Most High, accept our fasting and give us the opportunity to be together again in such wonderful Ramadan days, as well as to break our fasting at the charity iftar dinners.
