Prof. Lyubomir Mikov presented in Vidin his book “Mosques and masajed in Bulgaria”
The book of Prof. Lyubomir Mikov “Mosques and masajed in Bulgaria” was officially presented to the public in the town of Vidin. The premiere in the Danube riparian town took place on March 29 this year (Thursday)at the BTA Regional Press Club.
At the event which is the second consecutive presentation in the country, along with the author there participated also the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council Vedat Ahmed, the Regional Mufti of Montana Nedzhati Ali, the expert at “Publishing” Department of Grand Mufti’s Office Dzhemal Hatip. The premiere of the book in Vidin was attended also by the Regional Governor of Vidin Albena Georgieva, there were also a number of leaders and representatives of state’s and cultural institutions, as well as journalists.
“The town of Vidin is a remarkable example of a tolerant attitude between Christianity and Islam, not only with the 27 Ottoman monuments on its territory, but also with the architectural situation of a mosque and Metropolitan Church – just several meters separate them” – said Prof. Mikov to the audience.
The book of Prof. Mikov is unprecedented on the book market in Bulgaria. The author addresses in it the interior, exterior and architectural specifics of the Muslim religious temples in Bulgaria – mosques and masajed, and the text is richly illustrated with hundreds of illustrations.
