Grand Mufti held a number of meetings during an official visit to Vidin

 

The Grand Mufti of the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi was on an official visit to the town of Vidin on March 28 this year (Wednesday). He was welcomed by the Regional Mufti of Montana Nedzhati Ali. They both held a meeting with the Mayor of the town Eng. Ognyan Tsenkov and with the Regional Governor of Vidin Albena Georgieva

In the framework of the visit the representatives of the local authorities and the guests from the Muslim Denomination commented on the fact that Vidin is a town which is an example of understanding between different ethnicities and religions: “Vidin is an example of a tolerant attitude between the different religious denominations, an example of cooperation between the representatives of the different ethnicities.” – said during the meeting Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi.

In her turn the Regional Governor Albena Georgieva agreed that the Danube riparian town is an example for the entire country for ethnical tolerance and focused on the fact that in Vidin for centuries the three main religious temples – the church, the mosque and the synagogue, have been located at a very near distance from each other, and the place is also known as the “Small Jerusalem”.

 

 

During the meeting with the Grand Mufti Georgieva also noted that in Vidin and in the region of Vidin are kept and are maintained dozens of Turkish cultural monuments that are part of the glorious thousand-year history of the region.

The Grand Mufti assured the Regional Governor of Vidin that the good cooperation between the Muslim Denomination and the local authorities in Vidin will continue also in the future, as well as that there also will continue the joint efforts for preservation of the historical memory in the region and the efforts for preservation of the cultural monuments, related to the Islamic cultural heritage.

The visit of the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzi in Vidin included also a visit to the Metropolitan Church of Vidin where he was also accompanied by the Regional Mufti of Montana Nedzhati Ali. The host Archimandrite Antim welcomed the guests form the Muslim Denomination and took the opportunity to show the good relations between the religious representatives of the two religious denominations over the years, by saying that faith is what makes all people, regardless of their ethnicity, better, more humane and carrying in their hearts forgiveness, humility and love.

 

 

After the held in Vidin meeting the Grand Mufti and the Regional Mufti of Montana visited also the town of Belogradchik where they held a meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality Boris Nikolov.
