Students from the religious school in Momchilgrad joined the “green” initiative of the Municipality

Students from Religious School – Momchilgrad participated in the “green” initiative of the Municipality of Momchilgrad, related to the afforestation of the local forest. It took place on March 17, 2018 (Saturday) at the way to the forest cabin.

The aim of the initiative, which was implemented in cooperation with Forestry – Momchilgrad, is to compensate the damages caused to the woods by bark beetles, and to restore the forest mass. For this purpose residents of the Municipality of Momchilgrad and young enthusiasts, including also students form the religious school, for a short time managed to plant 800 saplings on a total area of 5 acres. The afforestation was made with Cedrus and Platanus trees.

The students were from all grades of RS – Momcilgrad. Along with them the initiative was also joined by the Director of the school from the Republic of Turkey Nurettin Çakar, as well as by the teachers Orhan Osman, Vasilena Kadieva and Nurdzhan Avkat. Young and adults, children and elderly were all working as a team. And only for an hour they managed successfully to complete the afforestation mission in the forest of Momchilgrad.

According to the information of the Municipality of Momchilgrad, in the autumn of 2018 is expected to be planted another 5 acres of trees near the town.
