Last farewell: Our colleague Ismail Chaushev passed away

With sincere pain we announce that during the night of 30th of September, 2017 we lost forever our long-time colleague and  like-minded partner Ismail Chaushev. He will be sent in his earthly course on 2nd of October, 2017 (Monday) in the central mosque of Sofia - Banya Bashi at 11:00 o'clock.

For those who did not know him - Ismail Chaushev was a prominent poet, writer, journalist, public figure and a teacher.

He was born in 1940 in the village of Vladimirovtsi, Razgrad region. In his native village he received his primary education, after which he contnued to study in the Turkish Pedagogical School in Sofia.

In 1961 he was admitted to  the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", where he studied "Turkology". He graduated four years later, in 1965.

He worked as a lecturer in Turkish language in the Department of Turkology at the Sofia University. He was a journalist in the newspapers "Filiz", "Halk Gençliği", "Yeni ışık", "Hak ve Özgürlükler". He was part of the team of Publishing Department of Grand Mufti's Office where he worked as a chief editor of the magazines "Muslims'and "Hilyal".

During the years of democratic changes Ismail Chaushev taught Turkish language at the High Islamic Institute in Sofia, and at the same time he was developing his artistic activity.

He compiled a collection of poems for children from authors from the   Turks community in Bulgaria. He is an author of the poetry books "Dilek" (1967) and "Yay Burcu"(2004).

Ismail Chaushev also wrote "Grammar of the contemporary Turkish language" and the collection of stories "Terapi pıtekası".

Over the years he participated in dozens of scientific international symposiums and poetic events.

On behalf of Grand Mufti's Office of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria we offer our sincere condolences to the family of Ismail Chaushev and all his relatives.

We ask the Merciful Allah (s.t.) to give them patience in the loss, and to embrace with mercy and forgiveness the soul of the deceased.
