Regional Mufti’s Office in Plovdiv held a competition in Basic knowledge in Islam in Asenovgrad

The last weeks of August were filled with excitement for the children from the summer Qur’an courses in the country. One of the reasons was completing the courses and holding after that the regional competitions in Basic knowledge in Islam, which have already been held in a number of settlements in our country.

The eagerly awaited day for the children from the region of Plovdiv was on 28^th of August, 2017. On this day Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv held the regional competition in Basic knowledge in Islam in the central mosque of the town of Asenovgrad. In the contest for knowledge participated students from 9 Qur’an courses in total from the region of Plovdiv, and the number of the participants and the children who came to support them was about 50. Besides the teachers of the young Muslims who accompanied their students, official guests of the competing program in Asenovgrad were the Regional Mufti of Plovdiv Taner Veli and Aydan Yumerov – lecturer at the High Islamic Institute and a member of the Supreme Muslim Council.

The competitors were divided into levels and the competition was held in several rounds. According to the age and the learnt in the Qur’an courses during the summer it was expected from the children to read passages from the Holy Qur’an, to recite memorized supplications necessary for performing the prayer, or to recite by heart chapters from the Holy Book. Within the competition was also checked the theoretical knowledge of the children in different fields – Sirah, Akhlaq and others.

After the end of the competition were announced its results. Winner at first level was the representative of the Qur’an course in the town of Krichim. The first places for second and third level were for the students from the Qur’an course in the town of Asenovgrad. For all participants ranked at first, second and third place from the three levels were provided cash prizes from Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv. The children were also delighted with gift packages, provided by the Province of Bursa in Turkey.

After the award ceremony for the winners in the regional competition in Basic knowledge in Islam in Plovdiv, all young and adult guests gathered for festive lunch, provided by the Muslim Board of Trustees – Asenovgrad.
