British Hajj riders complete cycle ride to Saudi Arabia

The eight Muslims who went by their bicycles to perform the pilgrimage of Hajj from London on 14th of July this year are already in Saudi Arabia, reported Alaraby.co.uk. By achieving their aim, they become the first in the history British who reached Saudi Arabia by bicycles for performing pilgrimage of Hajj. Their initiative is a part of the charity project Hajj Ride within which are raised funds for medical equipment for Syria. The targeted amount is 1 million pound.

For less than six weeks the Hajj riders had travelled nearly 3 000 km. on their way from London in England they crossed France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Greece and Egypt. Their initial plan was to go through Turkey, Syria and Jordan but due to safety reasons they preferred the alternative rout where from Greece to Egypt they traveled by ferry, and from Egypt to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia – by plane.

On Saturday the Muslims from Great Britain were welcomed very heartily by the locals on the streets of Madinah. Now they will stay in the City of the Prophet 9pbuh) foe several days in order to take a rest and to prepare for the pilgrimage in Makkah to where they will go in the end of August this year.
