“One Day in the Haram” documentary with a premiere in September

“One Day in the Haram” is a 90-minute documentary which details what it is like in the Grand Mosque in Makkah through the eyes of workers and clerics. The premiere of the movie is expected to be in September but the exact date is not announced yet.

Writer, producer and director of “One Day in the Haram” is Britain's Abrar Hussain.

“The film is designed to attract a non-Muslim audience, to show them how important Makkah is,” shares the writer.

“We wanted to film Makkah because it was very important to show a beautiful side of Islam (so) non-Muslims can say, ‘Okay, this is how beautiful and peaceful this religion is’.” –added also Abrar Hussain.

According to the author of the movie, the aim is to convey its message to as many people as possible, especially in the West. It will be screened during film festivals, a contract with Netflix and different TV stations to screen it is also considered.

According to him, the movie is unique because it is the first that shows how a day in the Masjed Al-Haram goes not from the perspective of worshippers, but of the workers in the mosque.

Abrar Hussain wants to show how successfully the mosque is run, how organized its departments are, and how seriously its workers take their jobs.

“This project was very challenging because the place is never empty of worshippers” – shares Hussain.

The documentary is very detailed; it took one year of research before the team was able to start filming. The budget amounted to SR1 million ($270 000).

The Official trailer of “One Day in the Haram” was released one week ago and immediately became viral.
