Sofia mosque was subjected to violation once again
During the night of 21st - 22nd of August 2017 the mosque in Sofia “Kadi Seyfullah Efendi” (Banya Bashi) was once again subjected to violation and vandalism.
A man, who according to initial information is not a Bulgarian citizen and has mental illness, broke the entrance door, after that broke also several windows of the mosque, smashed wooden rails and destroyed religious books and the Qur’an-i Kerim.
Thanks to the police and its adequate and timely reaction, the man was arrested and a complete pogrom in the mosque was prevented.
Regional Mufti’s Office – Sofia strongly condemns this act and hopes the perpetrator will be held responsible.
We also express heartfelt gratitude and to the police that showed professionalism and arrested the perpetrator.
