Opinion of Fatwa Committee: How and what names to give the newborns?

Determined from the commandment of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that the best names are those that are derived from “abd” or “hamd” (for example Abdullah and Ahmad) Muslims have to give their children traditional Muslim names. Because the name is not only a label of the person, but it defines his identity. Due to this reason Muslims have to give names that do not contradict or blur their identity. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “On the Resurrection Day people will be called by their names so choose good names”.

From the sunnah of Muhammad (pbuh) is when giving a name to the infant to recite adhan and iqama, to slaughter aqiqah qurban and to give sadaqah.
