Iftar for 2000 people was organized in the town of Dzhebel
According to the already established tradition this year also the Municipality of Bayrampaşa, Istanbul Province, in cooperation with the Municipality of Dzhebel organized iftar dinner for the population of Dzhebel.
The event took place at the central square of the town on 27th of May, 2017 (Saturday).
Official guests of the iftar were the Assistant Consul of Turkey in Plovdiv Volkan Tanyıldız, the Social Affairs Attaché at the Embassy of Turkey Metin Akbaş, the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed, the Deputy Mufti Erhan Redzheb, the two deputy mayors of the Municipality of Bayrampaşa Ismail Gemici and Yalçın Sırakaya, as well as other public figures and activists.
Welcoming speeches were delivered by the host of the meeting Bahri Yumer – Mayor of Dzhebel, as well as by the other official guests.
In his speech the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed highlighted the importance of the month of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar, saying: “The month of Ramadan is one spiritual school with which the Muslims purify their souls. This is in personal plan. In a social plan we know that in the month of Ramadan the Muslims are more humble. In one hadith our mother Aisha (r.a.), one of the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), shared that the Prophet was very generous but in the Month of Ramadan he was much, much more generous. This is one of the most wonderful aspects of the month of Ramadan. Why? Because Allah has created us: some – rich, others – poor. The rich people preserving the fast feel, experience the difficulties of the people who need a piece of bread. In this way they become much more humble and reach out a hand to the people who are in need. The month of Ramadan is the month in which began the revelation of the Qur’an. That is why it is a sunnah to make mukabele (reading of the entire Qur’an). Of course along with this it is important also to read the translation of the Qur’an and to search the answers of the questions…”
After the event of the town of Dzhebel the so called “Ramadan convoy” is foreseen to visit also other settlements in Bulgaria, where to organize iftar dinners. After leaving Bulgaria the donors from Bayrampaşa will continue with giving iftars in other Balkan countries.
