Lecturers and students from ULSIT visited Social Department of Grand Mufti’s Office

 

A group of students from The University of Library Studies and Information Technologies in Sofia along with their lecturers Prof. Zhorzheta Nazarska and Ch. Assist. Prof. Dr. Svetla Shapkalova were on a study visit in Social Department of Grand Mufti’s Office. The meeting took place on 20th of March (Monday) in the Media and Culture Center of the mufti’s office.

The Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun, in charge of the social activities of the Muslim Denomination, and the expert at Social Department Bahri Izet informed the guests about the functioning of the Social Department of Grand Mufti’s Office. The hosts presented the main projects that are being worked on, as well as the successfully held social campaigns of the Muslim Denomination so far.

“Sincerity in deeds is an important requirement in the work in the social field. It is important to provide transparency in the activities of the different institutions and NGOs – this leads to creating trust in people, it is also responsibility towards everyone who contributes for the good of the public” – highlighted within the meeting the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun.

Prof. Dr. Zhorzheta Nazarska and Ch. Assist. Prof. Dr. Svetla Shapkalova gave the Mufti their co-written book “Methodology in teaching religion in higher secular schools.” In the framework of the meeting the two sides discussed also the idea of joint carrying out in the future of a forum dedicated to the religious education and upbringing – practical guidelines and methodologies.

The guests from ULSIT and the hosts from Grand Mufti’s Office parted in the tone of the message which says: that you have not to ask about people - what is their religion, how many times a day they pray, do they fast, etc… It is important to ask what they need and how you can help them.
