Grand Mufti had a cup of coffee of tolerance with representatives of other institutions and religious denominations in Plovdiv
For third consecutive year the representatives of different institutions and religious denomination gathered in the city under the hills for a cup of “Coffee of tolerance”. The meeting is held every year to commemorate the anniversary of the vandal attack towards “Dzhumaya” mosque in Plovdiv on 14th of February, 2014.
On 10th of February (Friday) this year Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv the premises of which is located exactly in the building of the mosque, again welcomed its guests. Among them were the Grand mufti of the country Mustafa Hadzhi and the Secretary General of the Muslim Denomination Dzhelyal Faik. Official guests of the meeting for peace and tolerance were also Süleyman Gökçe – Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria, Hussein Ergani – the newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv, the Chairman of the Jewish organization “Shalom” Svetlozar Kalev. The local authorities were represented by the Chairwoman of the Municipal Council in Plovdiv Savina Petkova and by the Deputy Mayor in charge of public order and security Georgi Marinov. The event was attended also by representatives of different NGOs.
The Chairwoman of the Municipal Council Savina Petkova urged all participants to pray together for Plovdiv to remain a city that is example for peaceful co-existence and not to repeat events such as the violence towards Dzhumaya mosque in 2014.
The event “Coffee of tolerance” was held prior the performance of the Friday (Jumu'ah) prayer. During the meeting in the premises of Regional Mufti’s Office – Plovdiv the participants in it were having a cup of coffee of tolerance and the Muslims inside Dzhumaya mosque were reading Mawlid for peace and tolerance.
