On 25th and 26th of November, 2016 the Grand mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi and the lecturer from the High Islamic Institute Dr. Sefer Hasanov were on a two-day visit to the United Kingdom where they visited The Markfield Institute of Higher Education in Markfield/Leicestershire, offering Bachelors courses in the field of the Islamic studies and Master courses in the field of Islamic studies and Islamic banking, during which they discussed the possibilities for cooperation between the High Islamic Institute in Bulgaria and The Markfield Institute, existing as a Higher education institution since September 2000.

The guests were warmly welcomed by the Rector of the Institute Dr. Manazir Ahsan, the Director General of the local Islamic Foundation Farooq Murad and the lecturer at Inter-faith relations Dr. Ataullah Siddiqui. During the visit the Grand Mufti delivered the Friday khutbah (sermon) in the mosque of the complex and familiarized the attendees with the history of the Muslim community in Bulgaria.

In the framework of the visit also took place a meeting and a brief talk with our compatriots working near the town of Maidstone in South East England, during which they were informed about their problems and discussed how Grand Mufti’s Office can contribute to their religious life far from the Motherland.

On the second day there were held meetings with members of the Bulgarian Muslim community in London during which the Grand Mufti was informed about the problems of the Muslims from Bulgaria in London and discussed ways to preserve the development of their relations with the Muslim community in Bulgaria in the face of Grand Mufti’s Office.
