Muslims and Christians together at iftar
The village of Bezhanovo, Lovetch region, hosted an iftar which brought together Muslims and Christians.
The co-existence between the different ethnic groups and religions in the village has its longstanding roots. 100 years ago the Muslims in the village decided to give a place for construction of a church in the yard of the mosque.
In this way today in one yard are situated two temples. The people share their happiness and adversity and continue to be together. The common iftar during the holy month of Ramadan continued this tradition.
Guests of the iftar were the Deputy Grand Mufti Mr. Birali Birali, the Secretary General of Grand Mufti’s Office – Mr. Dzhelyal Faik, the Deputy Regional Mufti of Lovetch – Mr. Nidzhatin Mustafov and guests from the settlements nearby.
“I am extremely happy for having the opportunity to get to know the other not only by living together but also through belief and religion”, shared the nurse Maria Tsankova and added that she personally attended religious rituals which deeply impressed her.
At the end of the evening the Grand Mufti made a small talk on which he stressed on the benefit of Ramadan in reviving the human values.
