Mutual respect is the only way to progress and prosperity
“Ramadan in the month in which Allah revealed Qur’an-i Kerim as a guidance for everyone who seeks happiness and spiritual soaring. That is what makes us touch the Divine wisdom in this month. During the day we refrain from food and drinks in order to prepare for the prayer at night as an expression of devotion to the Will of the Almighty”. “Mutual respect is the only way to progress and prosperity”, said the Grand Mufti Mustafa Hadzhi at the dinner, organized by the President Rosen Plevneliev, who was a host of an official iftar dinner on the occasion of the holy for the Muslims month of Ramadan in the National History Museum.
According to him “The iftar dinner this evening is a message to all Bulgarian citizens to treat well each other and to be together both in happy and in difficult moments”, said Mr. Plevneliev and added: “Indeed unity is not something new for the people in Bulgaria, but it is necessary to continue to follow the way of mutual respect and tolerance. Perhaps these messages are repeated many times, but they are necessary for our happiness and spirituality as the air and the water are necessary for our physical existence”.
“In the heart of the capital city Sofia the four temples of the most important religious denominations co-exist from old times side by side and form one symbolical and very solid rectangle of understanding and mutual respect. It is a clear proof that religions in Bulgaria are not isolated from one other, they do not exist in parallel worlds, but actively help one another, just as ordinary people around the country do.”, said the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev.
According to him in many places in the Fatherland the Orthodox Christians, the Catholics, the Muslims, the Jews share not only their holidays, but also together stand against the troubles and the challenges of the daily life. Many times it is said that crises and trials unite us. However, it is much more important to be united primarily in our everyday life, in the small things, in the small gestures of understanding and goodwill towards the neighbor, towards the fellow-citizen.
He is convinced that the unity of the nation is based on the unity of all religious and ethnic communities in our country around our common cause for peace and prosperity of the Fatherland. “That is why from my very first day as a Head of state I make tireless efforts in order to give my contribution to strengthening the good traditions of tolerance and for building of even more cohesive and united Bulgarian society”.
The Grand Mufti sincerely hopes this tradition to continue also in the future, because this is the way of unification the nation and the spirit of the society.
