Regional Muslim Conference was held in Regional Mufti’s Office Razgrad

Regional Muslim conference convened by Decision No. 8 from 26th of February, 2016 of the Supreme Muslim Council was held on 15th of March, 2016 in the mosque “Ahmed bey” in the city of Razgrad. The conference began with a recitation of Ashr-i Sherif by the imam of the city of Razgrad Shakir Ahmedchikov.
The Conference was attended by 67 from 75 imams in total from the seven municipalities of the region, who unanimously elected for candidate for a mufti Mehmed Alya, who is on this position so far.  Official guests of the event were the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim council Mr. Vedat Ahmed, and the Regional mufti of Targovishte region Enver Yahov. The Regional Mufti Mehmed Alya on his turn delivered a report on the activities of the Mufti’s Office for the period 2011 – 2016 and informed the delegates about the achievements during the last 5 years and outlined the priorities and the tasks to be performed during the next mandate. The Regional Mufti noted as a great achievement the monthly meetings with the imams for the annual training plan program for increasing the knowledge in Qur’an –i Kerim and Ilmihal, the participation of the imams in all organized by Grand Mufti’s Office training and retraining courses for the imams as well as for regaining the confidence in the institution. After not receiving other candidatures for the position of a regional mufti the imams as religious leaders of the Muslims in the settlements expressing their wish and vote, unanimously supported the candidature of Mehmed Alya for a Regional Mufti of Razgrad region. In his closing speech Mr. Alya thanked the delegates for the trust which they placed on him and promised that he will do his best to justify it. At the end of the Conference SMC Chairman Mr. Vedat Ahmed greeted all participating delegates and on behalf of the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi forwarded a greeting address and an instruction to the imams to be even more active and responsible in the implementation of the duties undertaken by them by stressing that every time it is necessary they to be maximum devoted in the invitation to the Islamic religion. The Chairman noted that after the legitimacy of the management of the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria, elected at the National Muslim conference held on 24th of January, 2016, the work of the imams and all structures in the Denomination will be harder and more responsible, because the criticism and the attempts to impede the development of the institution go on albeit in other form.
