Grand Mufti received Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia

The Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi received the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Anies Baswedan at Grand Mufti’s Office. He is on an official visit in the country on the occasion of signing of a joint memorandum for cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia.

The Grand Mufti presented the activities of the Muslim Denomination and aspects of the life of the Muslims in Bulgaria and stressed that the Islamic religion is the second largest denomination in the country after the Orthodox Christianity.

“It is important for us to keep active relations with the Muslim communities around the world in order to benefit from their experience in our joint religious matters”, said the Grand Mufti. He said that regardless of where in the world the Muslims are the spiritual relation between them is a fact and it should be developed.  

“It is a great pleasure to me that you received me, I insisted very much on holding this meeting in order to be informed for the status of the Muslim community in Bulgaria, which I know is a minority. Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim community in the world and I think that we have many topics for mutual cooperation”, said Minister Anies Baswedan. According to him his country has great opportunities for education and scholarship programs from which the Bulgarian students can benefit as well.

Indonesia has a population of 250 million people and more than 300 ethnic groups, but according to the Minister this diversity unites the nation and leads it to successes.
