Regional Muslim Conference elected Mustafa Izbishtali as a Mufti of Sofia

“The unification of the Muslim communities at places in view of the more effective and quality work of their leaders is a mission to which everyone should give a hand and take some of the responsibility”, said the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi. He attended the Regional Muslim Conference of the Muslims from the capital and the region. They elected as a Regional Mufti of Sofia Mustafa Izbishtali.

The Grand Mufti greeted the Regional Mufti and wished him successful and fruitful mandate. According to him each Muslim wish to win the grace of the Almighty and in this sense the active participation in the religious life in the country is not only a function of muftis and imams. Every believer who is concerned about his belief has to be active in this direction by making personal efforts in the development of this common welfare for the community.

“I would like to thank you for the trust which you put on me, but I would take this responsibility only if I have your support, active participation and constructive criticism for the affairs of the Muslims for the entire mandate”, said the re-elected for the position of a Regional Mufti of Sofia Mustafa Izbishtali. According to him the capital is not like the other regions in the country populated by Muslims. Here the religious affairs go very difficult due to the visible reluctance of the local municipal structures for assistance. Every week we witness activities on behalf of different administrative officials trying to stumble the activity of the Regional Mufti’s Office. Of course there are also such who conscientiously do their job without having scruples and prejudices.

“The religious life of the Muslims in the region of the capital is filled with challenges, but I do hope that with joint efforts they to be solved for our common welfare”, further said the Regional Mufti.

Besides the election of a Regional Mufti the Regional Muslim Conference discussed also the religious affairs of the Muslim community in the region along with the achievements and the problems, and adopted the final report of the Mufti for the previous period.

The region of the capital’s mufti’s office serves the administrative regions of Sofia, Pernik and Kyustendil.

Such Regional Muslim Conferences are foreseen to be held in the other 19 regional mufti’s offices.
