By its decision Sofia City Court (SCC) registered the newly elected management of the Muslim Denomination in the face of the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi and the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council Vedat Ahmed.
By a decision No: 11, company case No: № 1659/2003г. SCC ruled on the legality of the decisions of the regular National Muslim Conference from 24th of January, 2016.
According to the decision the amendments in the Statue, the election of Grand Mufti – Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the election of Chairman of the Supreme Muslim council – Vedat Ahmed, as well as the election of members of the Supreme Muslim Council done at a regular National Muslim Conference on 24th of January, 2016 are legitimate (in accordance with the Law on the Religious Denominations and the Statute of the Denomination) and finds the request for registration these new circumstances lawful and respectively enters them in the relevant court register. The decision is final.
The present decision of SCC puts the end of all insinuations related to the legitimacy of the former and present management and provides a peaceful horizon of action during the next mandate of five years of the management of the Muslim Denomination.
The Muslim Denomination has always respected and honored the independence and the justice of the Bulgarian judicial institutions which once again showed that they do not work under pressure, but by conscience.
The right of religion and free and democratic choice of managing religious bodies on behalf of the sovereign of the Muslim Denomination – the Muslim community is a strong litmus for the level of the democracy in Bulgaria.
