Grand Mufti: Kardzhali is a micro example of tolerance
“Kardzhali is a micro example of tolerance with the good relationships which you have in the region”, said the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi during his meeting with the Regional Governor of Kardzhali region Iliya Iliev. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council Vedat S. Ahmed, the Secretary General Ahmed Ahmedov and the Regional Mufti Beyhan Mehmed.
The religious leader is on a working visit in the city on the occasion of the III National Workshop for the staff of the Muslim Denomination entitled “Together we can do more!”.
“Religion should not be identified with the behavior of extremists whose actions the world has witnessed”, said the Regional Governor Iliya Iliev. He said that religion whatever it is, makes people closer to each other and does not disunite them.
They talked about the tolerant co-existence and the understanding of the ethnic groups in Kardzhali region, which created the feeling of security and peace in people, regardless of the religion which they profess.
The religious leader of the Muslims gave the region as an example with regard to the dialogue both between the ethnic groups and the Orthodox priests and the Mufti. The Regional Governor was categorical that the division of people based on ethnic or religious sign is deeply extrinsic and that the good attitude is what can brings him a personal satisfaction in the work because we all are equal in front of God, no matter how we call Him.
Both of them agreed that the residents of the Rhodopes are extremely humble, hospitable and pious and deserve to have a higher standard of living, a step towards which is the opening of the mountain pass Makaza and the development of the cross-border cooperation.
