Grand Mufti’s Office supports BOC for Alexander Nevsky

The Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi expressed his support for the “St. Alexander Nevsky” Cathedral in a special letter to His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte.

“Hereby I have the honor to state our solidarity and support with regard to the fundamental right of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church for the property of the Stauropegic Patriarchal Cathedral “St. Alexander Nevsky””, wrote the Grand Mufti to the Patriarch Neophyte.

According to him Grand Mufti’s Office fully shares the position expressed by the Holy Synod that “St. Alexander Nevsky” Cathedral is a symbol of the autocephalous status of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate and with the transfer of the right of ownership to the Church is ensured the right of religion – on the one hand, and on other hand – the rights of the other Bulgarian citizens are not violated, because the temple is open for everyone.

“I do assure you that Grand Mufti’s Office considers the temples of the relevant religious denominations as shrines, created in the Name of the Almighty, in order to serve the believers, and their management and ownership – for a fundamental right of the management of each denomination”, further wrote the Grand Mufti.

He took the opportunity to express his most sincere and hearty wishes and good health and prosperity of the Head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
