Our attitude towards orphans is a test for all Muslims

The campaign of Grand Mufti’s Office on the occasion of “Orphans’ week”, which this year is carried out under the motto “Give  compassion, not alms”, was launched on 22nd of November, 2015 in the town of Gotse Delchev, where Regional Mufti’s Office – Blagoevgrad held a first meeting with orphaned children and their guardians. It was held in the newly opened trade center Happy Mall in the town.

This is the first of this kind initiative in the framework of which helping and helped have the opportunity for personal meeting, to get to know each other and the helping ones to learn more detailed about the problems of the needy.

The event in Gotse Delchev was attended by the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the interim acting Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council Vedat Ahmed, the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Birali, the regional muftis of Blagoevgrad, Sofia, Pazadzhik and Smolyan, as well as by employees from the departments “Social”, “Irshad”, “Publishing” and “Media and culture” at Grand Mufti’s Office.

“Our attitude towards orphans is a test for all Muslims”, stressed the Grand Mufti in his address to the attendees at the meeting. In his speech Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi focused on the place of orphans in the society and what are the obligations of the society towards them.

The meeting ended with dua (supplication) to the Almighty Allah for support and patience in the test and for each of the orphaned children was prepared a gift from Grand Mufti’s Office and benefactors.

The day for launching the “Orphans’ week” Regional Mufti’s Office continued with organized charity campaign in the House of Culture of the town of Gotse Delchev. Beside the management of the Denomination and regional muftis, official guests of the program were the Mayor of the town of Gotse Delchev Vladimir Moskov, mayors of municipalities and villages. The program was enriched with the special participation of the band “Vest”. At the end of the event were raised funds at the amount of 1500 leva. Second charity campaign in the framework of the “Orphans’ week” will be organized from Regional Mufti’s Office – Smolyan. It will be held in the town of Rudozem on 27th of November 2015 from 17:30 o’clock in the newly constructed sport hall of the town.

Grand Mufti’s Office in the Republic of Bulgaria thanks all who responded, attended and showed their support to the orphans during the first event from the series of initiatives in support of orphaned children. We are waiting you also in the other events of the “Orphans’ week” which this year is held under the motto “Give compassion, not alms”. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.s.) said: “Whoever caresses the head of an orphan with kindness and compassion, a good deed will be written to his account for every hair over which he passed his hand, for every hair a wrong deed will be forgiven and for every hair his degree will be raised.” (Tabarani, Al-Mu'jam al-Kabeer 4/132)
