Migration: Past and Present
A discussion on the topic: “Migration: Past and Present” was held on 14th of October, 2015 in the Media and Culture Center of Grand Mufti’s Office. It was organized on the occasion of the new Hijri year (Islamic calendar).
Key speakers were Dr. Sefer Hasanov – lecturer at HII – Sofia, and Dr. Arif Abdullah – lecturer and Director of the Islamic Theology and Culture Research Center at HII – Sofia. Moderator of the discussion was Birali Birali – Deputy Grand Mufti.
The main topics of the discussion were what Hijra (migration) means. What are the historical reasons for this event. How we should interpret this event in our days. To what extent the migration from one settlement to another can be considered as Hijra.
Issues related to the refugee waves from East to West were also discussed. It was focused on the topic related to the internal migration of a person from sinfulness to righteousness.
