The University General Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medical Care (UGHATEMC) ‘Pirogov” in Sofia received an official donation of 800 protective masks – “helmet” type for the medical staff, working in the medical institution in the current epidemic conditions.
The donation was officially presented on behalf of the Muslim Denomination on June 29 (Monday) this year by the Head of the Department on Education at Grand Mufti’s Office Amir Feleti, and by the three directors of the religious schools in Ruse, Shumen and Momchilgrad, respectively Tundzhay Sherif, Sherif Hyusnyu and Ahmed Bozov, who were working tirelessly with their teams to produce hundreds of the safety helmets.
The donation was made with the assistance of Dr. Sheip Panev, pediatric traumatologist in the Department on Pediatric Orthopedics and Traumatology in GHATEMC “Pirogov”. On behalf of the medical institution the donation was received by Dr. Aleksandar Ilkov, also a pediatric traumatologist in the Department on Pediatric Orthopedics and Traumatology in GHATEMC “Pirogov”.
Dr. Aleksandar Ilkov expressed his gratitude for the concern on behalf of the Muslim community in Bulgaria and shared that the donated helmets will be of a great help in the work of the hundreds of medics in “Pirogov”, where sometimes two physicians had to share one helmet during their work. Ilkov expressed hope that the donated masks will make their work easier and will help to prevent the spreading of the coronavirus in one of the busiest hospitals in the country.
