The Committee on Social Activities at the Supreme Muslim Council (SMC) held its another working meeting. It took place online on June 23 (Tuesday), 2020 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Grand Mufti in charge of the social activities Birali Myumyun and with the participation of the members Aydan Mohamed, Nedzhmi Dabov, Mesut Mehmedov, Mustafa Izbishtali and Akif Akifov, regional muftis of Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Shumen, Sofia and Sliven. In the working meeting also participated the expert from the Social Department at Grand Mufti’s Office Dzhefer Isov.

The agenda of the meeting included an analysis of the set during the previous meeting tasks, as well as a review of the results of the held social campaign of Grand Mufti’s Office during the month of Ramadan 2020.

The participants in the working meeting reviewed the newly received applications for supporting orphans as well as those for granting ad hoc financial aid to those in need. There were approved two persons for granting a financial aid of 300 BGN for each of them, proposed by two different regional mufti’s offices in the country.

“All newly received 21 proposals for supporting orphans were approved with which the total number of the supported orphans reached 372 so far.” – Dzhefer Isov from the Social Department commented for Grandmufti.bg after the meeting. He also added that the committee decided to grant an ad hoc aid at the amount of 100 BGN for all supported by the Muslim Denomination orphans in order to meet some of their expenditures related to the beginning of the new school year 2020/2021. This additional financial aid will be granted them together with the funds for the third quarter of year 2020 and the regional muftis will be informed about this.

The participants in the meeting also discusses some issues related to the upcoming campaign of Grand Mufti’s Office for Eid al Adha. In connection with this it was decided to update the price for cattle – respectively from 850 EUR to 900 EUR.

After completing the agenda, the meeting was closed and it t expected that the next one will be held at the end of August this year.
