The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Sofia Mrs. Aylin Sekizkök and the delegation accompanying her visited Grand Mufti’s Office on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. The meeting took place in the reception hall of Grand Mufti’s Office.
The religious leader of the Muslims in Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi thanked Ambassador Sekizkök and expressed his satisfaction with the visit. Dr. Hadzhi highlighted the fact that Turkey and Bulgaria are countries with historical relations and expressed his full confidence that the bilateral relations will continue to develop and strengthen in the future as well. At the same time Dr. Hadzhi said that both in the past and in the future the relation between the religious institutions in the two countries are at a very good level.
Ambassador Sekizkök shared that this year’s Ramadan campaign, organized by Grand Mufti’s Office, has received support both from the official Turkish institutions, and from the private sector, and the first Ramadan food packages have been sent to the regional mufti’s offices in coordination with Grand Mufti’s Office, and will be distributed to the needy. Furthermore 300 medical protective clothing, produced by a Turkish company in Bulgaria, was donated to Grand Mufti’s Office, so that the religious staff to be able to work in healthier conditions as part of the fight against the global threat of COVOD-19.
The Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi highlighted that the material and spiritual support that Turkey provides to Grand Mufti’s Office for many years is of a great value for the Muslims in Bulgaria.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council Vedat Ahmed, the Councilor at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey to Sofia Erman Topçu, the Social Affairs Attaché at the Embassy of the republic of Turkey to Sofia Mehmet Genç, and the Secretary General of Grand Mufti’s Office Dzhellyal Faik.
