During the last month the Muslim Board of Trustees – town of Peshtera with the support of a team of local volunteers organized three campaigns for distribution of food necessities and in this way joined the National charity campaign for social assistance of Grand Mufti’s Office – “Be hope for the needy”.

The campaigns were implemented thanks to the financial and moral support of Muslims from Bulgaria who are living abroad. Initially from benefactors from abroad were received funds at the amount of 3000 BGN for purchasing food products for people and families that are most in need.

In the framework of one of the initiatives of the Muslim Board of trustees – Peshtera were distributed a total of 260 packages with food and hygiene products to more than 200 families from the quarters of “Lukovitsa” and “Pirin” – single elderly people, people with disabilities, single mothers with children and needy families – both Muslims and Christians.

The campaigns had widespread resonance for charity among the local population in the two quarters. In parallel joined also other donors of the quarters of Peshtera, living abroad, as well as volunteers who facilitated the distribution of the food packages.

In this way all donations made during April amounted to more than 18 000 BGN, and there were distributed a total of 1000 packages with food and hygiene products to more than 500 individuals and families.

The local Muslim Board of Trustees expresses it deepest gratitude to the donors and the organizers of the campaigns in Peshtera in the persons of Besim Eminov, Sevgin Feyzila and Yuksel Yasharov. These events are a good example that should be followed also by other settlements, in order to help more and more needy people.
