Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi visited the reconstructed mosque in the village of Gabarevo

 

In the framework of his visit to Regional Mufti’s Office – Stara Zagora on November 18 (Monday), 2019 the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi visited the site of the reconstructed mosque in the village of Gabarevo (Municipality of Pavel banya, Gabrovo District). The visit of the construction site was in order to check the progress of the construction and repair works of the Muslim temple in the settlement.

“The reconstruction of the mosque is with the entire renovation of the roof, interior repair and construction of adome. The mosque is very old, at least several centuries, and there has not been a dome so far. We hope that the construction works at the mosque will be completed till the spring. The reconstruction is implemented at a local initiative with donations from local businessmen and from people from the village of Gaberovo.” – said the imam of the mosque Hasan hodzha.

During his visit in the mufti’s office in Stara Zagora the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi took part also in a regular monthly meeting with the local imams. The focus during the working meeting was on the discussions of the problems of the Muslim community in the region and most of all the shortage of qualified imams in the region of Stara Zagora.

“We came to the conclusion that it is urgent to organize a training course for imams in the region, at local level, in order to solve this problem or at least to deal with this case as far as we can.” – the Regional Mufti of Stara Zagora Turhan Hasan commented in connection with the held monthly meeting.

According to him currently in the region exists a problem due to performing religious activities by imams who are not part of the Muslim Denomination. In this regard during the working meeting was discusses also the idea to issue official identification cards of the imams, working at the Muslim Denomination.
