The book of Dr. Arif Abdullah about the Qur’an was published in Russian language
The book of Dr. Arif Abdullah “The Qur'an and Normative Religious Pluralism: A Thematic Study of the Qur'an” which was published in English language in London and Washington from the International Institute of Islamic Thought, is already available for the readers in Russian language. The Russian version of the monography was translated and published by the Center for Islamic Studies at the National University of “Ostroh Academy” with the support of the Institute for Knowledge Integration in the city of Ostroh, Ukraine.
The work “The Qur'an and Normative Religious Pluralism” is a contra argument both against the one-side thinking and mentality, which could be seen as manifestations of extremity in its different forms, as well as against the cultural and religious dilution and syncretism which does not respect the specifics and the importance of the differences.
The line of argument, on which the work is developed, is based on the Qur’an. And since the Qur’anic text often remains in the shadow of the medieval exegetic literature, in which the historical controversies and confrontations, conditioned by socio-political circumstances of the time, are often brought to the fore, the analysis consistently aim at refining its focus so that the normative Islam to be presented through its authentic original source and not through the clouded lens of the historical events in the Middle Ages, when the battlefield and the polarity of the opinions and statements are among the main characteristics of the relationships.
The National University of “Ostroh Academy” in the Ukrainian city Ostroh is established with a Presidential Decree on April 2, 1994. It was founded as an autonomous educational institution – the successor of the legendary historical “Ostroh Academy”. In September 2015, the Center for Islamic Studies also became part of the National University of “Ostroh Academy”. The main purpose of the research center is studies and research of the Islamic heritage of Western Ukraine, especially those relevant to the Tatar Muslim communities (including the community in Ostroh, that has been inhabiting these lands for already five centuries). Among the priority fields of the studies of the Center for Islamic Studies at the National University of “Ostroh Academy” is also the Islamic intellectual tradition during the reign of the Crimean Khanate and as a whole the history of Islam in Ukraine.
One of the fields of activities of the Center for Islamic Studies in Ostroh is exactly the publishing activity – translations, editing and publishing of scientific works and books on Islamic topics in Ukrainian and Russian languages. And exactly one of the latest implemented projects in this field of activity of the Center for Islamic Studies is the publication in Russian language of the book of Dr. Arif Abdullah “The Qur'an and Normative Religious Pluralism: A Thematic Study of the Qur'an”.
