The Muslim Denomination will participate in the campaign in support of organ donation and transplantation in Bulgaria

On November 4 (Monday), 2019 was held an official meeting between representatives of the National Council of the Religious Communities in Bulgaria (NCRCB) headed by the Chairperson Birali Myumyun Birali and the Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev. The occasion for the meeting was the officially launched today campaign of the Ministry of Health – National Information Campaign in Support of Organ Donation and Transplantation in Bulgaria, which will he held under the motto “Yes! To Life!”.

In the framework of the held meeting the two parties discussed the ways in which the different religious communities in Bulgaria could participate in the campaign of the Ministry of Health. There were also commented common joint activities which can be implemented from the religious communities together during this information project. During the meeting the NCRCB members officially received their first donor card which is a sign of solidarity with the national information campaign.

“In terms of the participation of the Muslim community in our country in the National Information Campaign in Support of the Organ Donation and Transplantation it is foreseen on one of the next Fridays the Friday khutbah (sermon) in the mosques to be thematically related exactly to this important topic about organ donation and transplantation.” – said for Grandmufti.bg the Deputy Grand Mufti and present Chairperson of the NCRCB Birali Birali.

He also shared that the NCRCB will participate in this important campaign of the Ministry of Health and it is foreseen in the nearest future to be organized and held meetings with the directors of different hospitals – private and public. The idea is to organize a one-day workshop in which medical practitioners and health care professionals to be informed about the specifics of the different religions, which should be taken into consideration during the medical treatment of sick people and when providing other health services to the patients.

The partnership of the NCRCB and the Ministry of Health in the framework of the National Campaign in Support of Organ Donation and Transplantation in Bulgaria is a proof for the solidarity of the different religious communities and the great significance which they give to this topic.
