The entrance door of the mosque “Kadi Seyfullah Efendi” in Sofia was forced

On the 1st of March, 2015 in the early hours (around 02:30 o’clock) the entrance door of the only functioning mosque in the capital “Kadi Seyfullah Efendi” (Banya Bashi) had been forced in furtherance of theft at first glance. Beside the entrance door one of the metal boxes for donations inside the mosque was also broken down. On the other boxes for donations there also are visible traces of an attempt to forcible open. This act of vandalism was found by the imam when he tried to open the mosque for the morning prayer. Immediately the emergency number 112 was alerted, and a team of the 5th RPD responded immediately and arrived on the scene for about ten minutes after the signal. Statements were taken by the present worshippers, furthermore fingerprints were found on the metal boxes.
Regional Mufti’s Office – Sofia strongly condemns this serial act of vandalism and calls upon the law enforcement authorities to identify the perpetrator (perpetrators) of this ugly act rapidly.
