Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karataş gathered ahuge audience with his lecture in RS- Momchilgrad

More than 500 people numbered the audience gathered on Saturday, October 12, this year in the conference room of Religious School – Momchilgrad, in order to listen to the lecture of the prominent Islamic theologian from the Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karataş. He was in our country at the invitation of Grand Mufti’s Office of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria and took part in two religious programs – in Momchilgrad and in Shumen.

Among the official guests of the event in the religious school in Momchilgrad were representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in our country – the Social Affairs Attaché at the Turkish embassy in Sofia Mehmet Genç, as well as his colleagues from the Consulate of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Volkan Acer – Assistant Consul and Attaché Hüseyin Dönmez. There also participated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Danla – Deputy Rector of the Higher Islamic Institute in Sofia and the regional muftis of Kardzhali, Haskovo and Plovdiv, respectively Beyhan Mehmed, Basri Eminefendi and Taner Veli. The deputy muftis at the mufti’s office in Kardzhali Erhan Redzheb and Nasuf Halil attended the event as well, and also guests from the Republic of Greece and hundreds of Muslims from Momchilgrad and the district.

The program was officially opened with recitation of a part of the Holy Qur’an by the imam of the central mosque in the town of Kardzhali Metin Oluodzhal. As a host the Regional Mufti of Kardzhali Beyhan Mehmed delivered his welcoming address to all guests. A brief speech was also delivered by the Social Affairs Attaché at the Turkish embassy Mehmet Genç. Prof. Karataş focused in his lecture on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) – the difficulties in Makkah and the civilization in Medina.

The program was enriched with religious songs (ilyahi) in Bulgarian and Turkish language, performed by the visiting band “Vest”. The Deputy Director of Religious School – Momchilgrad Nurettin Chakar participated in the religious program with recitation of poetry.

After the event in Momchilgrad the honorary guest Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karatas left for Shumen where he will have to be a guest-speaker in the evening religious program, organized in the mosque “Sherif Halil Pasha”.
