Obituary notice: The long-timeimam from the region of Ruse Refik Ahmed passed away
The long-time cleric, imam Refik Yusmen Ahmed from the village of Bazan (Municipality of Ruse), suddenly passed away on October 4 (Friday), 2019.
Refik Yusmen was born of August 18, 1939 in an agricultural family in the village of Bazan. As a child he was studying in his home village then he continued his education in the Turkish Pedagogical School – town of Razgrad. After graduating from the Pedagogical School in Razgrad Refik hodzha was seconded and sent as a teacher in the region of Kardzhali. After some time, he returned in the Danube River valley and began working as a teacher in his home village Bazan. He was a teacher also in the village of Golyamo Vranovo and in some villages in Razgrad region.
After the beginning of the regime his teaching rights were withdrawnand then Refik Ahmed began working as a “Head – transport” at Yastrebovo railway station. With the coming of the democracy Refik Yusmen was the first democratically elected mayor in his home village Bazan. After his retirement he became an imam of the village of Yastrebovo, Ruse district, and remained at this position till his last day. Imam Refik was an intelligent, disciplined and active person, who was highly respected by the Muslim community.
