XIII National Competition in Basic Knowledge in Islam was held in Momchilgrad  

 

Host of this year’s 13th consecutive National Competition in Basic Knowledge in Islam was Regional Mufti’s Office – Kardzhali. The annual event took place at Religious School – Momchilgrad between September 3 and 5, 2019. 76 children in total, students in the summer Qur’an courses at all 20 regional mufti’s offices in the country participated in it. They all were finalists in the held earlier on regional competitions in basic knowledge in Islam, which gave them the right to present themselves also at the national competition.

Official guests at the competition were the Grand Mufti of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the Chairman of Supreme Muslim Council Vedat Ahmed, the Deputy Grand Mufti Ahmed Hasanov, also regional muftis from the country as well as guests from the Republic of Turkey.

The competition included a test on the theory which all the competitors took, as well as a practical part within which they had to read parts of the Holy Qur’an. According to their level of progress the students were divided into four levels in total.

“In addition to the competitive part the three-day program included also a cultural and artistic part with the participation of some the children, various sports, tourist and other activities.” – said for Grandmufti.bg the expert from Irshad Department Bahri Izet.

On September 5, the last day of the competition, took place the official ceremony for awarding the winners in each of the four levels of the competition. The knowledge and the practical skills were assessed by a jury chaired by Dr. Ahmed Lyutov and members Sami Fazliyski and Orhan Osman – teachers in Religious School – Momchilgrad.
