Grand Mufti attended commemoration ceremony in the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey
On June 15 (Monday), 2019 the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia held a commemoration ceremony marking the Day of Democracy and National Unity and commemorating the memory of the martyrs of July 15, 2016.
The commemorative program took place in the residence of the Embassy and host of the official ceremony was the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria Dr. Hasan Ulusoy. Official guests form the Muslim Denomination were the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, the Chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council Vedat Ahmed, the three deputy grand muftis Ahmed Hasanov, Murat Pingov and Birali Myumyun Birali and the Secretary General of Grand Mufti’s Office Dzhelal Faik.
The event was also attended by representatives of different institutions, heads of diplomatic missions, Turkish businessmen and public figures.
The commemorative program began with a minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs who died during the attempted military coup in Turkey three years ago. The host welcomed all guests and focused on the importance and the significance of the day of remembrance.
“We relate the date of July 15, 2016 with a great victory won by the Republic of Turkey. And after July 15, 2016 Turkey will never be the same again.” – said in his address to the attendees Dr. Hasan Ulusoy.
The Grand Mufti of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi took part in the commemorative ceremony by making a dua (supplication) for all the 251 martyrs, who died as shuhada (martyrs) on July 15, 2016.
In the memory of the victims a rosebush was planted in the garden of the residence of the Turkish Embassy in Sofia. Ambassador Ulusoy and the Mufti Hadzhi ceremonially and for the first time watered the rose, which will grow and will remind of the tragic events from July 15 in neighboring Turkey.
