Muslims and Christians gave joint qurban for health and prosperity in the village of Kamenari
Muslims and Christians from the village of Kamenari (Municipality of Elena) united in the organization of a joint qurban which took place on July 6 (Saturday) this year.
Intended for health and prosperity in the presence of two priests representing the two religions the joint initiative brought together dozens of people from the village and guests from the settlements nearby.
Official guests were the Regional Mufti of Veliko Tarnovo Syulejman Masurev and the Orthodox priest from the Maryan Monastery "Holy Transfiguration of God" Father Aleksandar. The Mufti of Tarnovo attended the event at the invitation of Chairperson of the Muslim Board of Trustees – Kamenari, Fatme Yasharova. The event was also attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Elena Eng. Dilyan Mlazev. Both the priests prayed for health and prosperity for the residents of Kamenari and for continuing their peaceful co-existence as it has been so far.
“Such a joint qurban of the two ethnic and religious communities of the village of Kamenari takes place for a first time. And since there is a Muslim temple in the village but there has never been a church the organizers decided that the qurban should take place in a neutral territory – in the library club of the village.” – shared for Grandmufti.bg the secretary of the Regional Mufti’s Office – Veliko Tarnovo Yashar Mehmed. He also said that Muslims and Christians are living together in peace and understanding in the village of Kamenari for centuries and the harmony in their relations can be only an example for religious interaction.
