MES launched project for further training of teachers from the Muslim community in Bulgaria
The Ministry of Education and Science (MES) in Bulgaria together with Grand Mufti’s Office, the High Islamic Institute (HII) and the University on Library science and Information Technologies (UniBit) launched a project for further training of practicing teachers from the Muslim community in our country.
“The aim of the project is postgraduate further training of specialist with pedagogical education from the Muslim community in Bulgaria, who, after successfully passed state examination, will have the right to teach “Islamic religion” in the state schools in the country.” – said for Grandmufti.bg the Head of the Department on Education at Grand Mufti’s Office Amir Feleti. He said that the project will be implemented in the form of 28-day training course. Twenty participants from different regions in the country, admitted through recommendations of the regional mufti’s offices in Bulgaria have already enrolled in it. When the training finish the teachers will have to pass a state examination. The successfully passed examination will give them the right and the qualification to teach the optional subject ‘Islamic religion” in the state schools on the territory of the country.
The training course was officially launched with an official ceremony on June 17 (Monday), 2019, and the event was attended by representatives of the partner-institutions in the initiative. Among them were the Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi, who is also a Rector of the HII, the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Myumyun Birali, the Head of the Department on Education Amir Feleti and the expert at the same department Nazmie Kulova.
The Ministry of Education was represented by the chief expert Kosta Kostov and the expert in “Religion” Yulian Odadzhan.
The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Elena Savova – Deputy Dean on the educational affairs of UniBIT, and Prof. Zhorzheta Nazarska from the same university as well as other official guests.
The Grand Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi welcomed all participants and expressed his special gratitude for the good and successful communication between the different institutions in this joint educational project.
